Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day with The Big Sit!  The purpose of this annual international birding challenge is to identify as many bird species as possible by sight or sound while staying within a 17-foot diameter circle. This year the theme is “Every Bird Counts—Your Observations Matter.”

Help us make it count by joining the ASCM team at our Audrey Carroll Sanctuary or support our effort and the ASCM Mission with a donation. 

ABOUT THE COUNT: With raptor migration peaking, this is a great chance to see flyovers, learn from expert birders, practice your identification skills, and gather data for science. If you’d like to participate please contact David Smith.  Bring a drink, binoculars, and a scope if you have one. Light snacks will be available.

To keep it interesting, ASCM and the Frederick Bird Club (who will be at our Fred Archibald Sanctuary) are competing to get the most species and bragging rights for the coveted Golden Falcon trophy!
