ASCM welcomes old and new Birdathon supporters to participate in the crucial furthering of our mission to protect birds across our region and the places they need, today and tomorrow.
Our goal during this year's Birdathon is to raise $4,500 in donations and to record at least 90 species of birds!
Birdathon is May 4 - May 31, just in time for returning migrants, making it an ideal time to go birding. Every bird counted and every donation matters to reaching our goal!
Here’s how you can help make this year's Birdathon a success:
Create your own Birdathon fundraising page and ask for donations from family and friends. Then, go out birding between May 4 and May 31 and see how many birds you can identify in a 24-hour period. Record the species you see via the eBird app and send us your checklist from the app for your list to be added to our tally. (You can also email your checklist to us directly.)
Make a donation to our Birdathon 2025 campaign OR
Pledge to support our expert birders who will be birdwatching at our wildlife sanctuaries in May. You can pledge to donate a set amount per species; for example, if you pledge $0.50 per species and the team observes 80 species, your donation would be $40.
Check out these resources You don't have to be an expert birder to go birdwatching, nor do you have to bird for 24 hours. Any number of species seen or heard counts, even if it's the familiar birds you see every day.
All donations made during Birdathon 2025 will help ASCM to ensure good stewardship of our two beautiful Frederick County sanctuaries and advance other conservation efforts in central Maryland.
All donations are tax-deductible and are used 100 percent locally to support ASCM's programs.
