April Nature Outing

Join ASCM naturalists for a Bob Schaefer Nature Outing at our Fred Archibald Audubon Sanctuary near New Market. We’ll be looking for spring migrants, such as broad-winged hawk, brown thrasher, gray catbird, American robin, house wren, eastern phoebe, Louisiana waterthrush, tree swallow, and first arrivals of our purple martin colony. Most resident birds will be well into nesting and should be in full song. We may see and hear the Carolina chickadee, tufted titmouse, white-breasted nuthatch, northern cardinal, red-bellied woodpecker, downy woodpecker, eastern bluebird, and Carolina wren, among others. Butterflies will also be starting to emerge.
People of all ages are welcome to explore the sanctuary with us! No restroom facilities are available. The walk will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
The event is free, but donations are always welcome to help us maintain our beautiful sanctuaries and support all of our efforts to help us make a home for birds. Thank you!
