Bird Banding at Audrey Carroll
Since the early 2000's, ASCM members have been assisting Dr. John S. Weske, a former Staff Zoologist at US Fish and Wildlife Service research labs in Washington and Laurel, in conducting seasonal banding activities at the Audrey Carroll Sanctuary. During migration periods in May and October, John sets up lines of nearly invisible mist-nets in various habitats at the Sanctuary and has banded many hundreds of migrant and residents from seventeen families of birds. Noteworthy and representative birds
from numerous species have been photographed.
